Travel 2025 (July)

75% of UK families plan multiple holidays, and 94% trust Mumsnet for holiday advice - making it the perfect place for travel brands to reach an engaged, ready-to-book audience

(Research published: July 2025)

For families, holidays aren’t just about getting away. They’re one of the few chances to switch off, reconnect and make memories that last. But the joy doesn’t come easy. Parents, especially mums, carry the mental load, from planning and packing to keeping everyone happy on the day.

In our second round of travel insights for 2025, we discover:

  • The rise in travel despite tighter budgets, with 75% of UK families planning two or more holidays this year. Many are booking early, cutting back elsewhere or spreading costs to protect this precious time together.

  • The stress behind the scenes, as 42% of parents say they struggle to relax while away. The pressure to create the ‘perfect’ holiday often outweighs their own need for rest — particularly for mums, and families with young kids or SEN needs.

  • Changing travel tastes, with beach holidays still top but families increasingly drawn to city breaks, cruises and cultural trips — especially with older children. Multi-centre holidays are gaining appeal as a way to balance adventure with downtime.

  • The shift away from UK breaks, as European and long-haul destinations take priority. Families are craving something new — experiences that feel exciting, meaningful and worth the effort.

For brands, it’s a moment to meet parents where they are. Help ease the pressure, celebrate their effort, and offer smart, supportive solutions that make the hard bits easier — and the good bits even better.
